The 11 new homes consist of mixture of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom dwellings. This mix was chosen not only to suit the site, and surrounding area, but to encourage a mix of persons within the development with as much variety as possible in terms of sales potential.

Much thought and attention was given to ensure a balanced mix of private, semi private and communal space to ensure the development is welcoming. Devon hedge banks have been created together with retention of natural stone walls to preserve the historic character.

During the planning stages much consultation was held with Devon Wildlife Trust with regard to the presence of slow worms and bats within the site. Only after consultation with one of the countries leading bat experts and a “slow worm relocation programme” being implemented, was the development allowed to proceed under continued careful scrutiny.

The completed development is an example of a high quality small scale infill development of a brownfield site, which not only improves the architectural quality of the area, but also a high standard of living for its occupants. The design ensures the development is sustainable, reduces energy usage and future maintenance, whilst providing a desired ability to adapt for the future and the families which choose to live here.
