BBH Chartered Architects Ltd is one of Devon's leading architectural practices with a reputation that continues to grow for providing high quality architectural solutions within an ever more sensitive and complex built environment.
We have offices in the beautiful seaside towns of Dartmouth, Salcombe and Topsham.
The partnership of BBH was established in 1976 in Dartmouth. In 2017 our new office in Island Street, Salcombe was established. This was followed in 2025 with our latest office in Topsham near Exeter.
The practice actively encourages the “in house” training of architectural staff and sees this as a positive influence within the office and indeed on the success of the work we produce.
We operate an equal opportunities policy which offers such in both the employment of staff and the full architectural service that we work positively to provide.
At all levels staff are encouraged to learn and diversify their talents and enthusiasm for architecture and as such a management structure exists which ensures that all staff in the practice plan their continuing professional development programme.
The practice is a member of the RIBA CPD “Continuing Professional Development” scheme and as an office we run monthly CPD seminars and support and encourage attendance at external building events, seminars and local RIBA building visits and exhibitions.

KEY PERSONNEL
As a Chartered Practice our directors; Paul Myers, Adam Benns and Dave Back bring different strengths and experiences to the daily running of the office which currently employs 13 further architectural staff and an office manager.
Paul Myers
Director
Paul studied at De Montfort University in Leicester and joined the practice in 1996. Paul initially gained experience working for both WS Atkins and Charlesworth & Co. in the Midlands before his relocation to Devon and having progressed through the ranks of BBH he became a Director of the Practice in 2001.
Paul has built up a wealth of experience working within the South West with Local Authorities, Contractors and Clients alike and oversees the hands-on smooth running of the administration, accounts, recruitment and general management of the office.
Dave Back BSc (Hons) MCIAT
Director
Dave joined BBH in 2006 after completing his degree and became a Chartered Technologist in 2011. Dave is responsible for overseeing technical design, contract administration and CDM within BBH to deliver high quality architectural schemes. Dave is motivational and driven, being a key facilitator in the daily running of BBH.
Adam Benns BSc (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA
Director
Adam studied at Bath University and Oxford Brookes and gained experience over a 4 year period working for the leading Bristol based architectural practice Acanthus Ferguson Mann.
Adam joined BBH in 2004 and became a director in 2005 and has looked to increase and diversify the practice’s portfolio of client’s with a constant desire to seek the maximum architectural potential in every project we undertake.
