Hillfield Holiday Park is situated approx. 4km west of Dartmouth, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. BBH Architects have been involved with the site for several years, including the development at the North end.

In late 2012 Yellowbridge purchased the site from previous owners Anderton Partnership. In general their intent is to complete the re-development of the site and in doing so they wish to create a high quality, attractive and sustainable holiday village. The overall concept behind this phase of development (compared to what has already been approved) is to construct a reduced number of units, however provide larger individual units (approximately 29 in total.) Furthermore, a number of the existing properties to the North of the side will be upgraded so that smaller units are combined to form larger ones with more bedrooms.

The emphasis on this phase of development is therefore to build fewer units but ones with a larger occupancy.

The following concepts informed the design of the new build properties; maximising countryside views where possible (by keeping roof and ridge heights low), enabling each unit to have its own area of private relaxation space, providing a standard of accommodation that exceeds the visitors home and normal living standards and maintaining an eclectic, yet cohesive architectural style running through the development ranging from the traditional through to the contemporary. This range in style would enable repeat visitors to gain varied experiences upon each visit, and allow the site to offer variety.

It is hoped that works will commence, starting with the upgrading of the existing units, in early 2014.
