5 Seaview is a terraced property with fantastic views out to sea. The property was tired and dated and required substantial refurbishment. To the rear was an existing lean to kitchen area which was suffering from water ingress.

BBH provided a full service to the client from start to finish.To commence the project an existing survey was undertaken and existing plans and elevations drawn. A sketch proposal was produced and discussed with the clients. Following further discussion, amendments and liaison with the Local Planning Authority a full planning application was submitted and approved with South Hams District Council. At this point BBH drew up Building Regulation approval drawings and full working drawings and tendered the project.

Nigel Rogers a local contractor was subsequently awarded the contract and work started. Several unforseens were encountered along the way including full replacement of the first floor ceiling structure due to inadequate construction.
On the ground floor the design intention is to create an open plan kitchen and dining area to the rear whilst maximizing the use of natural light through a new lean to structure finished with a Zinc roof and large panels of patent glazing.

The design of the kitchen by John Taylor of the Complete Kitchen Company has needed to be ingenious in order to fit everything in to such a small space, whilst the front room is retained as a separate living area with a feature fire place. Upstairs the two bedrooms were renovated and a new shower room added to complete the scheme.
